Origin and History 

Captain Welbank brought the very first wisteria to Europe in 1816. In May of the same year, the English man was invited by a wealthy Chinese from Guangzhou for dinner, and it so happened that the dinner was held under a pergola covered by Wisteria flowers. Wisteria flowers are native to North America and Asia, but these are also cultivated in other places due to their incredible growth habit.
